A Day in the Life of a Yacht Interior Builder at Heesen Yachts
The morning sun rises over the shipyard in Oss as you make your way toward your workplace for the day—the yacht itself. Not the workshop or cutting floor, but on board, right in the middle of where it all happens. As a Yacht Interior Builder with the Mounting On Board team, you’re part of the crew that installs, finishes, and perfects the interior directly on the yacht. From the early build to the final departure.
You begin your day with a quick check-in with the team. The spaces on board are still quiet, but soon the sound of hand tools and focused teamwork fills the air. Today, you’re installing cabinetry in the wheelhouse. Everything has to fit perfectly, down to the millimetre. The spaces are tight and complex, but that’s where your skill shines.
As part of Interior Production, you work closely with colleagues from Shipbuilding and Mechanical Production. Together, you’re responsible for building the entire yacht—from scratch—right here on the Oss shipyard. While others handle the systems and structure, you make sure the interior fits beautifully and meets the highest standards.
Between tasks, there’s time for quick chats, shared insights, or a helping hand. What defines Mounting On Board is a strong sense of unity. Colleagues look out for each other. Communication is open and direct. Everyone is focused on one goal: delivering an exceptional yacht, down to the finest detail.
In the afternoon, you put the finishing touches on your installation. You check every line, every seam. It feels good to know this will stay—part of a luxurious space someone will soon sail the world in. And you were there—right up until the moment of departure.
That’s the difference at Heesen. You’re not working from a distance—you’re in the middle of it all. With your feet on deck and your mind on the finished product. Want to help build something truly special? Check out the vacancy and apply now.
