Oss remains a unique location for a shipyard. Frans Heesen acquired a yard there in 1978, where small sport fishing boats were constructed. The shipyard flourished with craftsmanship and boldness, much like the boats, which became increasingly luxurious, faster, and better. This drive and innovative spirit can still be found at Heesen. Our clients challenge us with every project. A 60-metre yacht with a top speed of 40 knots? Built. An 80-metre yacht with a fully certified helideck? Done. Efficient yet enjoyable
The yard in Oss has developed into a production facility where we construct up to 14 yachts simultaneously, employing nearly 400 of our own staff alongside a comparable number of subcontractors and temporary workers. Our focus is on quality, efficiency, and streamlined processes. Each boat has room for improvement. Nonetheless, Heesen remains reminiscent of a friendly Brabant company. “It’s lovely to build a ship,” is a common expression heard here. Colleagues readily offer each other assistance. We work diligently and share plenty of laughter. Milestones at the shipyard are celebrated collectively, and we value our traditions. For instance, we offer Bossche bollen with each yacht sold, just as Frans Heesen once did.
