Are you a bold Naval Architect passionate about delivering superior superyacht designs?

We want to hear from you!

We are looking for a Naval Architect to join our Design & Development Department. With your expertise and impeccable communication skills you are able to take the technical design of our yachts to the next level.

  • What will you do?

As a Naval Architect in the Design & Development Department, you will harness your own design direction to create the technical design of our yacht projects. Combining expertise, insight, perseverance and personality, you will generate design proposals to take each project to unprecedented levels of quality and innovation. You will provide valuable input when solving technical challenges and advise on potential design risks. You will work closely with the cost engineers to deliver accurate cost calculations. Together with the technical engineers, you will determine and monitor the technical design of each yacht, incorporating weight, stability, resistance and propulsion. You will investigate whether the yacht design meets all required specifications in terms of performance and regulations. Working with the exterior architects, you will safeguard the aesthetic quality of the yacht using 3D models. Heesen produces yachts in the highest division of the luxury yacht market, and as such, projects often grow in length and complexity as it progresses. You will need to persistently search for answers to new issues as and when they arrive and enjoy the process of selling that solution to your colleagues. Working within a close team on an exceptional product makes this a unique position.

  • Where will you work?

The Design & Development Department is responsible for the technical design and complete development of our yachts. You are involved in the project from the first technical calculations to the final transfer to the owner and crew. Every yacht is built at the Heesen shipyard in Oss. The production halls are directly adjacent to your workplace, allowing you to watch your ideas become a reality. You will work in a close team of passionate colleagues in an international and dynamic department. Communication between colleagues is direct, with the atmosphere both open and informal.

  • Who are we looking for?

This role requires a strong personality with unparalleled professional knowledge and a healthy dose of assertiveness. In addition to a critical eye and highly developed analytical skills, you are confident and utilise your seniority to voice your ideas in every situation. You take ownership of each project you undertake and are reliable in your communication. You can quickly prioritise issues and always put the client first. You respond quickly to constantly changing circumstances and possess excellent problem-solving capabilities.

    Education and experience:

    • A university degree in maritime technology.
    • Minimum of 10 years experience in shipbuilding.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with 3D modelling.
    • Experience with AutoCAD.
    • Experience with Hydromax is a plus.
    • A comprehensive level of English and Dutch (oral and written).
  • What we offer

At Heesen, the happiness of our employees is important to us. That’s why we offer all Heesen employees a job with responsibility, collegiality and appreciation. You will get all the space to further develop yourself and grow.
Working at Heesen, you can expect the following attractive benefits:
